Music Video Monday 26: Fourth and Coast - Hopeless Romantic

This music video makes me feel:

like dancing.

I discovered fourth and coast when James told me about his band in line at the Paradise Fears concert in Detroit, he walked up to us shyly with his fancy iphone in his hand and asked me to listen to his band, and I was more than willing to do so, here I am standing there thinking, “there is an extremely cute guy promoting his band in front of me, keep it cool”. He kept squinting because the sun was in his eyes and he had his fake, no lens glasses. His band was playing with Hello Highway and he called us his Canadian girls. The night I got home, I purchased their EP on itunes and have been jamming it since (oh yeah, this concert was in february). They released this music video and I think it is adorable. I like that they include all the band members, even if they don’t all sing. It’s good to give everyone a bit of camera time. I love the beach so maybe I’m a little bit biased but I think beach dates are the cutest.

Feel free to check out fourth and coast on Twitter, Facebook AND EVEN TUMBLR

Until next week, keep on rockin’

New Music Sunday

Once Upon A Time- HeartAttack (Demi Lovato Cover)

I’d be lying if I said these guys were new to me, but I don’t believe I’ve ever posted about them on this blog so here goes. If you know me, you know I have a thing for Arizona boys, they’re just so fantastic (sorry fangirling moment). Almost all the bands I’ve listened to that come from Arizona are kick ass, when this band followed me on twitter about a year ago, they were really into communicating with fans and building friendships which I always find to be an admirable trait in a band. In today’s society where social networking is so prevalent, it’s nice to see bands take the time to interact with the fans who help their name get out their.

I chose this song because it’s the most recent recording I’ve found by them and they’ve grown a lot over the last year. The OUAT that I listened to a year ago sounds quite different from the one this year. They’re the same great guys but I love seeing the growth and progress that they have made.

On their facebook page, their cover photo has the date 5.28.13 that is coming up soon, and it has been described as the Next Chapter of their story. So hook it up on facebook and find out what the next chapter is!

I would highly suggest following these guys, checking them out and saying hi, they’re uber nice and friendly.

Check them out on Twitter Facebook

Music Video Monday 25: Paradise Fears- Mirrors (Justin Timberlake Covers)

This Music Video makes me feel-

IN LOVE

Okay, as you guys know, I’m a bit of a fangirl when it comes to Paradise Fears. I just admire everything that these boys do. Their covers are always so unique and creative. I love this version of this song, the piano part in the beginning gives me shivers, and Sam Miller’s adorable little smiles throughout just melt my heart. I don’t have anything really to say except that I think this is great and I hope you guys enjoy it, just as much as I did.

Until next week,

Sandlot Heroes- Somebody That I Used To Know (Gotye Cover)

Welcome back to another NMS, I’m going with what I said in the last new music Monday about picking cover songs. With the popularity of this original song, I wasn’t sure what to expect with the cover. Ans Gibson of Sandlot Heroes hit me up on twitter telling me to check out his band from Lehigh Valley, PA (funny, last weeks band was also from PA) anyways I listened to their original song Paradise and absolutely loved what I heard.

I decided to share this one on my blog because I was blown away with the outstanding performance. I definitely loved the guitar solo towards the end of the song. Truly breathtaking and so much talent. I hope you guys see what I see and enjoy this cover!

If you guys are interested more in learning about this band hit ‘em oup on twitter, facebook or their personal website

Let me know what you think and keep an eye out for tomorrows Music Video Monday!

Enjoy one of my favourites and friends singing from a bathtub.

Music Video Monday 24: ClassX- New Ritual

Windsor band time! These guys are from my city, I’ve seen them play many times and they get better every time I see them. They’ve grown a lot since I first knew them as The After Party and the The Classix and now ClassX. Their sound has changed quite a bit but definitely for the better, you can see how they’ve grown as musicians, their sound is more professional now, and I think it really suits them. I love this music video, the animals, the shades, it is perfect for the song. The lead singer has a really unique raspy voice and I really enjoy it.

If you wanna check out more of ClassX (which I know you do) go to twitter or facebook

Until next time!

NEW MUSIC SUNDAY

The Sleeper Pick- Want U Back (Cher Lloyd cover)

After starting my films&fangirling twitter, I got quite a few bands following the twitter. I decided to take some time on my two week vacay to check out each of the bands and post about them. These will be coming out every week for the next little while as part of our new series New Music Sundays

This band is from Pittsburgh, PA a four piece group: Jesse, Jeremy, Donnie and Josh. One thing I noticed from listening to their songs is that they have this edgy tone to their voice and it’s not something I’m used to, but I am enjoying what I’m hearing. This is their lyric video for their cover of Want U Back by Cher Lloyd and I decided to pick this song to share because when discovering new bands sometimes it helps if you already know the song, it gives you a chance to focus on the music and vocals rather than the lyrics which you already know. At the same time, it can be a little bit of a disadvantage because you find yourself comparing it to the original. My approach is with an open mind. I gotta give these guys props they put a real edge and spin on this song and made it their own. I actually forgot it was originally done by Cher Lloyd.

Well, I don’t know too much else about the background of the band, but I’m interested in learning more about them. If you are too check them out on twitter, facebook and itunes

Darling Harbour- Don’t You Ever Go

This is the single I was talking about in my previous post.

Let me know what you think? I am digging it and the artwork is so cool!

Darling Harbour- Can’t Stand It (NeverShoutNever cover)

So recently I re-vamped an old twitter account I had laying around and started tweeting about promoting bands. Within a few minutes I had quite a few bands sending me links to their music and I started checking them out. I heard from Brendan Ciccone of Darling Harbour and he sent me a link to his single, Don’t You Ever Go (See my next post) so I checked it out and really enjoyed what I heard. After I listened to that I saw that he did a cover of one of my favourite NSN songs so I decided to click on it and I instantly loved it. I’m truly a fan of this style of music and am always looking for new artists to switch it up a bit.

I was mostly shocked with the fact is how young he is, according to his twitter bio, 17. The only problem is that he is from Tampa, which is far away from Canada. BooHoo. I love discovering artists that I can help out by sharing their name. I find that a lot of  new and upcoming artists from the states often find it a struggle to get tours up here in Canada, which is when promoting is most important. So check him out (I’ll be sharing his single as well) and spread the word.

You can hit him up on twitter, facebook and even tumblr! Enjoy!

Until next time,

xoxo fangirl.
